Obviously the wisdom of elders is crucial – BUT kids often have a very ‘clean’ and healthy take on the world, not clouded by politics or disappointment. That’s what’s amazing about a young perspective. The hardest part of living in a foreign country is, for a writer, the loss of one’s native language. Obviously I still speak and read it, as well as write in it, but the ebb and flow of the living language is missing.
