for the only child in the sick waiting room at Dr, Maher’s office

I always want to know how they

are doing in the room without

the television, with old toys,

wiped hourly like their noses,

left there with an over-anxious

parent, doing nervous dances

& always staring at the clock.

Today, there was one caped boy fly-

ing, ignoring his mom, the room.
